Do you think its acceptable for a female to have a male best friend?
I have a guy best friend but many people that is not correct because we're of the opposite sex. I see no problem with this but I am writing a paper so I wanted other views. In Friendship Asked by nemi Age : 22 5 Answers

Is it acceptable for a female to have a male best friend? Finally, this question is out there for everyone to answer. Why not have a male friend? I mean aren't we friend with the male figure when we are in middle school or high school? As well as in College. I truly agree that women can have a male friend. The problem is with the male figure. Once the male figure gets married they forget about there female friends. To add more, male are only interested in keeping there male friends. Answered by Laury D...Age : 34 1 month ago Edit Delete

No, I don't think so rather it really does make whole lots of sense. As you said,"Once the male figure gets married they forget about there female friends" & "our husbands will forbid us to have male friends" - it is because friendship with opposite sex after marriage increases the opportunity of having unnecessary problems in personal life, whereas same sex (male friends of a man or female friends of women) friendship doesn't impose that big threat. That really doesn't mean it happens all the time but I personally witnessed these problems within my friend circle happening. Having said that I find it as little better solution. |

It might seem ok to both of you but what limits do you have? How would either of you feel if either of you would get a boyfriend/girlfriend? And when you get married, wouldnt you want your husband to be your best friend? Only you can sincerely answer those questions. Answered by nychelpAge : 29 1 month ago Edit Delete

What does gender have to do with friendship? We are all part of the human race and gender does not change who we are. The reaction that you are receiving is because everyone defines friendship differently. You have found a best friend with whom you can relate to who happens to be a member of the opposite sex. People have opinions about everything and there often reflective of their cultural or religious background. Stay true to that which makes you an individual and when it comes to friendship use the same values that you expect of yourself as a guide in choosing your friends. Hi there nice to meet you Nemi. I think it is perfectly acceptable for a female to have a male best friend. Thats how my girlfriend and I started seven years ago when we first met. HOWEVER just because you two are very close and of the opposite gender does not mean it is mandatory to be boyfriend and girlfriend. You two can look out for one another but most importantly, be yourself. Answered by Andrew ...Age : 22 1 month ago Edit Delete |
