How can I stop regretting things that I have done?
I have done things that I am not proud of and I know that it is apart of being human. Everyone makes mistakes. But, I just can't get over some of the things I have done. I try to reassure myself and have positive talks with myself. I'm scared that it will hinder my future and cause me to be disappointed with myself. I know I have alot of issues and I need to seek professional help, but in the mean time can anyone give me some advice on how to help myself? I would greatly appreciate it. dear one, we cannot change the yesterdays,and we cannot live in them,we must learn from them and do our very best to let go of those things which have gone on.that is much harder to do then to say.this i know.but in order to make room in your life for today and tomarrow,you have to let go of yesterday,or your heart will be so full of the old that it won't have room for the new. there is too much beauty in this world to waste your life on regret.it is a battle with yourself a lot of the time but a worthwhile battle.so i ask that you honor the life you have and forgive yourself, Answered by onebles...Age : 64 1 month ago Edit Delete |

We make decisions based on the knowledge and experience we have at the time. That's why we feel we'd do different today or some other time. So forgive yourself. HOWEVER, if what you did affected someone else's health or wellbeing then we are dealing with an entirely different ballgame. Apologies and amking it up to that person are in order. We cannot live our lives without making a mistakes or hurting someones feelings. Begin your day focusing on the positive things that are happening to you and you will find that your whole attitude will change as well as how you interact with others, Listen to the Willie Nelson song "And there Is Nothing I Can Do About It Now" it talks about regret in life, Rather uplifting, Learn from yesterday as you plan for tomorrow. I think you should consider a few things such as prayer,exercise,music,meditation,different diet, nicotine,caffiene and alcohol abstinence,develop a new network of people who can help you. Association with the people, places and things that can uplift your spirit and self esteem.Remember that birds of feathers flock together; Try also meeting with couselors at the college. Most importantly is maintaining a good attitude,time management and self discipline. Another important suggestion is to make amends to the people that caused regret in your life. Exhaust making amends to others so that you can resolve your feelings through prayer exercise etc. This can enable you to regain peace of mind and content.If your regrets are self inflicted then seek out couseling because it would be better to seek professional assistance.Peace |
