Find some free or low-cost, self-defense or karate for your child. Once word gets out that your child has invested in him/her self and REALLY knows how to defend him/herself, the bullying will stop. No need for guns, bullies are nothing more than people scared to fight, it takes one to know one so they see that your child is apparently also scared to fight - that's the situation that needs to be changed. Your child shouldn't be concerned about being labeled a snitch once they kick the bully's behind.

15 years ago my son had a bully picking on him in school. It was reported to principal several times with no results. I met with principal and explained that the next time the bully hit my son in the back my son was going to turn and punch him in the nose. That is what took place, stopping the bullying. Years later the bully and my son were friends

I am more than half tempted, but I like the idea of using this as a conflict resolution "teaching moment" to benefit the long term development of my daughter.

"Endangering yourself in the hopes of not being called a snitch is not the way to go."

"I hate how the word has changed in meaning. It used to mean someone who was also a criminal reporting someone else's crime for a reduced punishment. Since when did it mean a victim that reports a crime committed against him or her?"

I think it is time that we teach our children that telling a crime or wrong doing is a good thing. This is the only way to stop this stigma.

The only other answer would be for me to tell you to have your son/daughter hire the biggest kid in school to take care of it, but what would that be teaching the children? It would be teaching them more violence, more wrong doing.

I don't think there is an easy answer or fix to this, and my heart breaks that your child has to go through this.
