I have a difficult time finding employment and am worried about my future. Any advice?
Being a pillar of my Christian community, I committed a crime and became a felon. I was suddenly a leper, ostracized and abandoned. I have a difficult time finding employment and am worried about my future. However, could this arrest have been the best thing that ever happened to me? I now see that we are not a compassionate, forgiving and merciful society. I'm not a bad person, I made a grave error in judgment in a besotted moment of robotic awareness and pressure. However, deep down, there are not many people who are willing to see me for who I really am. I paid a great price for this knowledge and I must do something with it. I know Jesus didn't forgive the criminal to make him into an honest man, but to show the rest of us how to love. We hold the saint as the closest approach to the perfection of God. Jesus holds the sinner as the closest approach to the perfection of man. Heaven will not be as crowded as I thought it would be. But those who are there, wow. What people. I am so sorry to hear of your trouble. My Bible tells me that "And we know that all things work together for good, to those who love God,to those who are called according to His purpose" Romans 8:28. To some degree you may have to cut some slack to those who may have reservations about you/ your character. Maybe it will take time to earn their trust again. There are Biblical principles for dealing with such situations. I would consider speaking with the pastor to get his recomendation. If that doesn't get you any results I would look for another church. I belong to a Baptist church whose members reach out to those who are in prison or have been released. As far as employment is concerned, I believe a simular situation exists. You must as other in the same place have done; pull yourself up and persevere to regain your credibility. When Ii finish this, I will pray for you. Hang in there.
