I think that as long the person you are in love with makes you happy and isn't a threat to your well being and future then it's a good investment.Live your life and stop living it for others. because you cannot make everyone happy.

I know its very hard for you and your family. Your family will come to accept him, its just hard for them to imagine you being together with the guy because that's not what they expect or want for you. This is your life. As long as you make responsible decisions, they should be more open and understanding. In time, your family will see that your happiness is what's important.

I experienced a similar situation with my husband 12 years ago. We now have four kids and happily married. It was hard for my family to understand at first (my father was furious and almost disowned me), but after about a year of being married, it wasn't such a big deal and everyone went on with their lives and left me alone. I opened the door for my sister who also married outside the race. Good luck!
