You can go to yard sales or flea markets or thrift shops and find perfectly good furniture at a decent price.

I don't know where you live but check the National Furniture Bank at www.nationalfurniturebank.org You can enter your zip code to find the nearest organization that is a member.
For people reading this that have some extra items these places are a great place to donate for anyone wanting to pass on items that are still in good condition but you may no longer need. They redistribute these items to people that need them. There are some access fees or social service connections associated with many of the organizations to help with costs to collect and run the program. The Salvation Army is a good suggestion but they usually sell their donations to support other programs. I have found other church based donation places that have some assistance in the area I live. I would ask your discipleship class if anyone could assist in transporting and carrying any items you find into your home. (A sofa, table etc.) This would let them know you need some things and are only asking for their time and transportation. Maybe they will look around and see they have something they no longer need and offer it to you. Craig's list Free postings have a lot of items in my area. Check it out in your area. The transportation is the biggest challenge for most people. God bless and I hope you find what you need for your family.

Best to ask a member of the church that you trust. They probably know what would be specifically important to the people receiving the email. Good luck.
