The issue of death and when it occurs is one of the greatest mysteries of human mankind. Some might say it was his time and others might argue that he was chosen by God at that time. In your life time you may never have a clear answer to your question. no it doesn't make you a horrible person to be honest with your feelings. Our relationships with parents often takes a number of twist and turns. I am sure you have your reasons for your feelings and at the end of the day you must live with those feelings. But to have genuine feelings does not make you a horrible person.
