The appraisal of a house is primarily done if a person is trying to establish the value of the home for a bank or to sell it. The value is most often dictated by how much someone is willing to pay for the home and if they need a loan to purchase it how much the bank determines the house is worth. The appraisal is a ballpark amount based on the condition of the home and how much other homes of similar characteristics have sold in the immediate area.
