I would encourage you to read the first nine chapters of Genesis to get the context. Before sin entered the world it is clear that man and animals were created vegetarian. However, in Genesis chapter verse 29 (1:29) it explains that God has "given you every herb...fruit...to you it shall be for food." It was not until chapter 9 verse 3, after the great flood, that God said "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs." It is interesting that God also gave the animals "fear and dread" of man in verse 2 of chapter 9. I would strongly encourage you to read these verses. In fact make a daily habit of reading 15 or 20 minutes in the Bible. It is nice to get answers to your questions but with regards to Bible questions it is always wise to read it yourself. Many well intented people who do not know the Bible well are simply wrong.

Eating meat is a choice:
Romans 14:6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

If you do decide to eat it, there is a particular way you should do so:
Exodus 12:8-10 that same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire - head, legs and inner parts. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it.

In the bible it states that God himself put animals on the earth as food for human beings. Many people, such as seven day adventists believe certain animals to be unclean and shouldn't be eaten, like pigs. But, animals were put on the earth as food. In the beginning, in genesis, Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden where they had all of the food they could possibly need. Fruits and vegetables etc., food that was already prepared and that they didn't have to labour for. But, after Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the forbidden tree God punished them and said they would have to work in order to eat. Also, this is why we have to kill animals to eat them as opposed to them already being dead.

Please direct me where and in exactly what part of the scripture gives us the permission to kill animals for food. I would surely appreciate your time and feed back.
