y belief is that if she can't understand you then you should leave her. Your significant other and you should be able to have 50 50 share in everything.

At your age you don't need someone that wants to set limit on your goals in life. In order for a relationship to work you need a compatibility in purpose. You should not be looking for someone who mirrors you and your ambition but someone who supports you and your goals because they care about you and recognize and accept those things that are important to you. You need to allow yourself to date many different people and eventually you will find the right person. You already know what to do, just do it.
