Children should never have to feel the consequences of their parents getting a divorce. The reason why these children do feel the consequences of their parents getting a divorce is one, parents make the situation a constant battle. In legal aspect because the child is too young, the mother always get the custody of the child. Both parents should come to an agreement on how they spend time with their child. Children shouldn't have to feel that they are being divided. Couples should first really get to know each other to see if their marriage is going to last a long time, before have a child. I think that once the couple are parents the church shouldn't allow them to get a divorce. Parents should find a way to get along with each other for the sake of the child.

It really depends on the situation as a child of divorce I have to say when my parents divorced I was truly relieved at 9 you'd think I'd be torn up but I really wasn't so I personally think it's how the parents make the situation before, during and after.
Now that I am an adult they make it harder on me than the actual divorce was when I was a kid.

A family counselor said: "Divorce does not rescue children. It does sometimes rescue adults." The reality is that by divorcing, parents may resolve their own dilemmas, but at the same time, they can deliver a blow to their children, who may spend the rest of their lives trying to compensate for the damage.

There are books written about the negative impact divorce has on children but there are also studies showing how children suffer when there parents just stay in a relationship for the sake of the children. If at least 50% of marriages now end in divorce then many individuals have survived in spite of their parents being divorced. Sound like a toss up.
