Hi, this is a very interesting question and a hard one too. A good staff member should never be lowered to a lower position. Nor he or she should be fired. The best way to help that employee is to explain how the company is short of money and that they the employer, will be force to reduce the salaries. The employer should also explain that its not only for them its for everyone in the company.
