A leader should not feel the need to validate why they have been chosen to lead because they know they have the ability to lead. Focus on being the best leader and coach for your team and put aside the need to reflect when you were the bat boy on the team. If you lead with conviction and passion with a common purpose in mind all will follow gladly even if they reminisce from time to time. It only matters if you let it matter.
