First of all, the term 'social movement' is pretty broad, ranging in meaning from the Tea Party movement to radical insurgency. If you can be more specific I may be able to tell you why. Second of all, people put their lives on the line for social movements all over the world. Check out the website bombsandshields.blogspot.com. Answered by DosHachesAge : 30 1 month ago Edit Delete |

That is a rather glorifies expectation that is often depicted in the movies that someone will be willing to give up their life for a social cause. When see people taking their life and that of others in the news we refer to them as extremist. At times issues will take longer to be resolved and patience is required. Not that you are any less committed or are a conformist but you need to feel the pulse of the situation and be rational in your approach. Answered by GoodscoutAge : 31 1 month ago Edit Delete

I believe it is because we are living in a culture where selfishness(the I syndrome)rules. I am oftened in awe when I look at documentaries about trailblazers who would die for a cause. During the civil rights movement, many protestors knew that it was possible that they would die but went out to protest anyway. People then, were more committed. I also think that materialism is also to blame. Everyone wants the new gadget that is being pushed. The old school folks were not blinded by ipods, cell phones etc. They were family orientated and hard workers who wanted better for their next generation. It seems now that the next generation is not being considered by the older people. If we teach selfishness, and more money, more money, more money, our kids will follow in our footsteps. The world and its ideas have all gone to POT. love and peace |
