Why do air bubbles come out of the ground after a heavy rain?
In my front yard, after a hard rain it holds water. In several areas you can see a steady stream of air bubbles coming out of the ground. The lot adjacent to mine has a several large holes in the ground. I was told there is a underground cavern. Is it possible that it is running thru my front yard also? Rain water fills spaces between rocks and particles of soil. It 'displaces' the areas of air pockets. For someone to suggest that there is a 'cavern' next door, I wouldn't readily believe them. Caverns are quite large, also known as caves. It could be that the ground below is very gravely and rocky. Just take a cup and fill it will gravel and pour in water. The rainwater will continue to dissipate over time and leave the spaces filled with air again, hence more air bubbles the next time it rains. However, if you do choose to believe in the 'cavern' possibly it's a good time to sell. :o) Answered by nordicAge : 47 1 month ago Report Abuse Edit Delete Add comments |
