Why there is double standard for international students at BMCC and other colleges?
I am just wondering why there are more obstacles in front of international students than others. I have been looking for a scholarship for a while. Whichever I found is required citizenship or permanent residency. As a science student I wanted to attended some projects both in CUNY and BMCC but they didn't let me in because of same the reason. Even for winter Robotic workshop, you should be citizen to get paid. This is just ridiculous. We are paying high tuition and being successful than others in school. However,we can't take advantage of financial opportunities as much as other students does. We cant work, we can't apply for financial aid but still we are top students in the school and we will be!! If this is the aim to discouraging the international students, I can proudly say, yess it really works!!!

I think that it is politically motivated the bureaucracy plays a great role in all financial decisions. I also beleive that you should petition your government from your native country requesting financial support because more than likely when your visa expires you would use your expertise and skills to benefit their economy. Please also consider that citizens and residents pay a significant amount of taxes for many years in comparison to others who would like to benefit from our system without having certain obligations.Look at your strengths and don't allow your anger and frustration to diminish your shine and may be someone with power would be persuaded to help if you maintain a good attitude. |
