Would it be okay for my daughter to substitute Celexa for Lexapro when she runs out of lexapro due to CMHC changes her appts.?
She has no insurance to buy the lexapro but the celexa is generic and we could buy a script for her to substitute for lexapro if it is safe to do so. She gets her medication from a community mental health clinic and they don't seem to care what happens when they change her appt. and she runs out of medicine. They only let her have one month at a time. This has happened more than once, and it makes her physically ill besides the havoc it creates on her mood. Look, when it comes down to it, it probably makes no difference, BUT you should really never take any prescriptions that are not prescribed to you by a doctor that knows your medical info and your symptoms. I have personally been prescribed both, Celexa and after that Lexapro. Not any difference to me (Remember that this is for me...everyone is different!) Hope it helps.
