My son doesn't like me. He's 20 months old. How do I change this? I stay home so we don't have to worry about daycare and my fiance works to pay the bills. My son constantly rejects me, doesn't listen to me, and is sometimes very violent with me. He's not like that with anyone else. In fact he's very sweet and polite and extremely well behaved. If you spent the day with him you would be impressed. But he is just the opposite with me. It kills me when I think about it because I love him very much. And if I can't live for my child then why live at all? But I keep holding out for hope that someone has an answer for me. Kids know how to press your buttons,and probably knows he is upsetting you. Kids do not know how to hate or dislike at that age,of course he loves you. Kids are clever and can pick up on what you feel, so if you feel angry /moody /anxious then he will mimic you. Honey, you are still rather young. Give yourself time. It could be that he is going though phases that common for children that age to go through. It will also help if you ask your fiance what behavior he notices from your child. You should also watch that he is not being abused because unfortunately change in behavior pattern can be linked to child abuse. Hope this helps you. Good luck to you. Children are very sensitive and perceptive. His behavior might be because he might sense a certain uneasiness when you're with him. The problem could be highlighted by what you said in your question. It kills me when I think about it because I love him very much. And if I can't live for my child then why live at all? You might be better off living your life for yourself and stop thinking that he is the center of the universe. He might sense all this over loving to be a weakness and knows that by denying you what you want from him he will continue to get his way. Start treating him like a child and provide him with the love, discipline and guidance that a child needs so that he is respectful of everyone including you. Robecca Hi, well sweetie you are still quite young to go through this. Honestly, this is a very touchy subject. You say that your son is 20 months old. My opinion about this is that probably someone in the house hold is abusing of your Toddler. I hate to think it but I think it might be your fiance who is doing something to your child. I have serveral questions for you.... have you notice any bruses in his body? Has his eating pattern changed? Does your child allows you to bath him? Has you fiance ever bath him when you weren't around? Or, has any other person ever talked bad to your child about you? Because if this is so then you need to get him some help quickly.
